A Flying Start.
January 20, 2012
2012 is off with a bang. We’ve had a great start to the year. Last week saw us playing alongside former M People vocalist Heather Small in the ballroom of the Grosvenor House Hotel. The following night found us onstage before Go West at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. We got a chance to chat to Peter Cox from Go West about gigging, writing and life in general. He’s a real gent. The following night we entertained in the guise of SO80s, one of our specialised tribute sets, at the 25th Anniversary awards for Office Depot.
This week we are playing at a conference for Best Western Hotels at The Lancaster Gate Hotel in London, and then flying from London the following morning to play in Edinburgh for an Exhibition called Our Dynamic Earth, which looks very cool. The following morning we fly back to London and make our way up to the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel for the last gig of the week.
In between all this we’re putting the finishing touches to some new live recordings and video, which you’ll get to see and hear very soon, and preparing for CONFEX 2012 at Excel, London. This year at CONFEX as well as exhibiting as MADHEN (stand P330 if you’re coming along) MADHEN Productions we’ll be providing and managing the staging, lighting and PA for the central feature at CONFEX 2012, so it’s all go in the MADHEN camp.
Birthday party band
December 27, 2011
As 2011 draws to a close we reflect on a wonderful year for MADHEN
To round off a successful year, we get two mentions in the bumper Christmas and New Year special issue of OK! Magazine.
We were asked to perform at the wonderful Old Billingsgate for OK! boss Richard Desmond’s birthday party. It was a star-studded event. The likes of Alan Sugar, Sir Philip Green, Eamonn Holmes, Peter Andre, Amy Childs and Kerry Katona were among the 650 guests.
It was a great party and a fun night for all. Go and grab a copy now!!!!
Here’s to an amazing 2012

Christmas party band
December 19, 2011
December has seen MADHEN as busy as ever with the Christmas party season in full swing.
We were delighted to be invited back to Old Billingsgate again this year, for a string of Christmas parties.
Ultimate always throw amazing parties and events. So collaborating with them is always a fun and exciting prospect.
This years theme was ‘Showtime’ and Old Billingsgate was transformed into a vintage ‘deco style’ movie theatre.
We put together video footage shown on 3 giant screens for the event. Opening with a Madonna/Gaga mash-up of ‘Vogue’ and ‘Born This Way’ using various bits of footage. Hollywood icons and lip synch from our very own glamorous singer Helen York in a black & white glossy looking film noir style really sets the scene. Various other imagery continues on screen for an hour as we play through our eclectic floor-filling set.
We want to thank everyone involved in making every night a success. With clients such as ‘Carphone Warehouse’, ‘Ernst & Young’, ‘Sony’ and ‘IG Group’ we had an absolute blast on stage. From lighting and sound, to caterers and security. We’d like to thank you all for a great run. Special thanks to all at Ultimate.
We have video footage coming soon, so watch this space
Love from all at MADHEN x x x x x
Christmas starts early for Madhen
November 23, 2011
Madhen’s festive seasonal run with our good friends The Ultimate at Old Billingsgate started last night.
The run sees us playing 13 gigs there.
We’re adding synchronised video to our performance this year on the huge video screens which has been an exciting and technical challenge but it looks fantastic.
In between gigs at Old Billingsgate we’ll be fitting in other gigs in London, Manchester and Birmingham including the Tower of London and the Natural History Museum.
I’m sure Christmas Day will see us all with our feet up.
Madhen and Rob Brydon
November 17, 2011
As November draws to a close MADHEN are bracing themselves for the rollercoaster of December. The Christmas build up started on Wednesday with a gig for the O2 “Superfans” awards at Leicester Athena. Martyn, Paul and Andy joined comedian Rob Brydon on stage to provide the incidental walk-up music for the winners and a couple of impromptu Shakin Stevens tunes. Rob is a huge Shakin Stevens fan and once he discovered that Martyn is also Shaky’s musical director it was too good an opportunity to miss. Last night we played for a great crowd at Embankment Gardens in London for The Radley Foundation’s “The Silver Ball”. It was a charity event raising money to provide the best education for the children of members of the Armed Forces who have been killed or injured whilst serving our country. Tonight finds us playing at the Heathrow Sofitel with Bright Sky Events. It’s a great venue for a band, the staff are fantastically welcoming.
Next week we start our Christmas run at Old Billingsgate.
Busy Busy
November 5, 2011
October has been a productive month for Madhen. With gigs in Barcelona and Majorca as well as a great wedding with our friends at Delta Productions at one of our favourite venues, Goodwood House.
We’ve spent a lot of time this month getting ready for our Christmas run at Old Billingsgate including fantastic technical advances and new material. More of that when we have it all up and running. We’ll be fitting the studio preparation in between gigs through out November too.
Expect to hear studio recordings of some classic 80s tracks here soon. Kids In America is a favourite of the band and we’ve also recorded Spandau Ballet’s Gold and Starship’s Nothing Gonna Stop Us Now for our other incarnation as S080s.
…and finally…this month sees Paul, Martyn and Andy playing all the stings live for an awards ceremony with Rob Brydon, that should be fun
September
September 29, 2011
Over the past month MADHEN have been travelling all over the UK and abroad. After some great gigs at the Birmingham ICC and London, in just 9 days we took 12 flights and slept in 8 different hotels to perform 6 gigs. We have been performing in Aberdeen for BP (British Petroleum) every Friday this month at the Ardoe House Hotel. We had two beautiful weddings in Jersey with our good friends at Delta Production Services who really know how to throw a great party! We also had the privilege of playing in the Zofin Palace in Prague for an amazing crowd of new partners from around the world for Ernst & Young. We then flew to Milan to perform a corporate event at a beautiful hotel on Lake Maggiore in Italy. Celtic Manor was the setting for a great gig last week and tomorrow sees us returning to Aberdeen for our last gig for BP with the lovely people from Roselle. It is the busiest month we’ve ever had in our 11 year history. More blog updates next week with videos and pictures from this crazy whirlwind month of gigs! Thanks to everyone who’s been involved and to the amazing crowds who’ve kept us going. Next week Barcelona and Majorca!!!!!

Hello Magazine
August 2, 2011
We were lucky enough to get a mention in Hello magazine this week. Its a souvenir edition of our performance at last weekends royal wedding at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.
And another performance also proved a big hit with guests. As HELLO! can reveal, the party-goers were royally entertained by a rousing set from Scissor Sisters tribute band Madhen.
Said one guest: They put on a show-stopping performance on a stage with a video wall backdrop. The band had everyone on the dancefloor.
“After Madhen’s performance, the DJ took over, with guest partying until the early hours.”
