Five Go Madhen In Muscat!

We had a fantastic time in Muscat, Oman last week performing at a corporate party for Openworks.
We arrived late Monday night to a 32 degree heat, so had food and drinks around the hotel pool to unwind after our long flight.
Sound check began at 3pm the next day in the sweltering heat. It was in the 40′s so high factor sunscreen, hats and plenty of water were needed. It was a beautiful setting in an amphitheatre within the hotel grounds. We had to rehearse with four live-karaoke contestants from the company who were performing with us for a Pop Idol style contest. They were all really nervous but rehearsals and sound check went well. We then had a few hours to relax and unwind before heading back to the venue for the gig.
So Blondie were first to perform and Helen definitely got the crowd going. Everyone was in fancy dress (pop stars) and were on their feet within minutes of the So Blondie intro to ‘Call Me‘ .
It was still really hot but this didn’t put anyone off from hitting the dance floor. There were Spice Girls, Freddie Mercury’s, Madonna’s and Elvis Presley’s all getting down to the sounds of So Blondie. They were the perfect party audience!
After So Blondie, DJ Minty took to the stage as we got ready for the live- karaoke style pop idol contest! Four contestants took turns in performing and the eventual winner performed as Robbie Williams, complete with ‘Let Me Entertain You’/'Kiss’ style make-up!
We then got ready to perform our final party set as Madhen. There was no stopping the crowd, who depsite the sweltering heat, never left the dance floor and even remained in their fantastic costumes all night. We’d like to thank everyone who came up to us and thanked us for a great evening. We thoroughly enjoyed the party and it was great to meet you all too.
Once back in our air-conditioned dressing room, the lovely local men who had been looking after our room asked if we would like to hear some music. They performed for us with bagpipes and drums for a good hour. It was very kind and we had a blast!
We had a whole free day to recover and enjoy the Muscat sun the next day which is a rarity for us. We’re normally jetting off first thing in the morning. So we got time to relax in and around the hotel and even went to explore the souk before heading for a midnight flight back to the UK!
We’d like to thank everyone for such a fun time, especially, Francesca, Grace and Wendy for looking after us so well.

From Melton Mowbray to Muscat!

Just a little note from Madhen to keep you in touch with what’s going on.
Last night we played at a lovely wedding party for Billie and Ruth in Melton Mowbray. A great crowd who did not want to stop dancing!
We’re off tomorrow to Oman (Muscat) for 3 days for a corporate event.
It’s going to be a 40 degree sound check Tuesday afternoon and then still in the 30′s when we play at night in a beautiful amphitheatre!
There will be plenty of pics and some video footage too, so watch this space!
In the meantime, this is where we’ll be this time tomorrow…

RSVP North

For two days Manchester Central becomes one big party as entertainers, venues, caterers, florists, event management companies and many more give you plenty of ideas to make your next event sparkle.
It was Madhen’s very first RSVP North in Manchester. Having exhibited in London earlier this year, we thought it would be a great idea to head North to showcase our bands at Manchester Central (GMEX). It was a smaller event than London, but we met some very good contacts from the world of events. The good news is that we already have a gig confirmed 24 hours later.
There was also an entertainment stage at this event which gave all the bands and entertainers a chance to showcase their talents!
It can be an exhausting time exhibiting at these events, but luckily aromatherapy oxygen was on hand!
We’d like to say a big hello and thanks to all the great people we met. There were some old friends, some new and we look forward to working with many of you very soon.
