MADHEN – The ultimate party band!

June 8, 2011

Busy busy hen’s this week.  We’ve updated our website with new pics and bits!

www.madhen.net

Have been having some great gigs, from gorgeous weddings to big corporate parties.  Lots of activity in the office this week too, with many new enquiries and confirmations.  We have 3 gigs this week alone and September is looking really busy with every Friday spent in Aberdeen!

Also working on new tracks and our Christmas setlist too.  This is as good a time as any to thank all those who contribute to the success of MADHEN.  There’s a lot of great creative people we work with and companies who book us time and time again.  We are truly appreciative and look forward to a continued year of success

Much love from all the MADHEN’s

From Russia with love

June 2, 2011

MADHEN made our debut performance in Russia this week!  We flew out to St Petersburg for a corporate party for ‘Landmark’.  The venue was beautiful and it was great to perform in Russia for the first time.  We’d been pencilled to play there on a few previous occasions.

We flew out from London Heathrow at 6am to Zurich.  Then we transferred to another Swiss Air flight to St Petersburgh.

Thanks to everyone involved in all the planning and the smooth sailing of the gig.  Here’s to the next time!

Chiswick House Wedding

May 31, 2011

We performed at Chiswick House last weekend for Nicholas and Nicola’s wedding which was an absolute blast.  The venue is beautiful and this was matched by the family and friends of the happy couple.  Nicholas and Nicola performed an amazing first dance to ‘Boogie Wonderland’ from the movie ‘Happy Feet’.  We followed with 2 hours of MADHEN party music which kept the dance floor packed all night in the beautiful marquee.  Such an amazing crowd and Nicola didn’t leave the dance floor once!  We want to thank everyone for making us feel very welcome and for looking after us for the whole day and evening.  A beautiful wedding for a beautiful couple.

Nicola sent us this lovely message before they flew out for their honeymoon:

Hi Martyn, on our way to the airport for honeymoon:) Thank u so much for an amazing evening! U guys were incredible and all of our guests were blown away by u. The dancing, choreography, songs, outfits, everything rocked. And finishing the night with my favourite song too! We nearly walked in to the marquee for dinner to that Bon Jovi number! Perfect. We loved every minute of it and couldn’t have had a better day and night. Thank you for making our wedding the best:)

It was off to Spain again this week with Vision Express

A very early start after the gig the night before in London.  We managed 2 hours sleep before driving to Luton to fly to Alicante

Vision Express hold an exhibition and awards ceremony every year and we were invited along to perform for their party

The venue was the beautiful Barcelo Asia Gardens Hotel & Spa with amazing views across the skyline of Benidorm

We flew out the day before and were invited that evening to join the guests at the world famous Benidorm Palace  for a night of entertainment!

It was such a great night.  We had a 6 course meal and 2 hours of entertainment including dancers, singers, acrobats, trampolinists and balancing acts!  Much better than we had anticipated.

The next day we managed a few hours lazing by the pool before soundcheck and a cheeky orange juice in the sun!

It was a long afternoon sound checking back at the conference room at the hotel before getting ourselves ready for the show.

We had actually been booked to perform our 80′s tribute show SO 80′S, but managed to convince the organiser to allow us to perform as MADHEN as he’d never seen us do this set!

We had kindly been given a table in the venue and another huge meal before we sloped off to get changed before our performance.

The crowd by this point were raring to get going on the dance floor.  DJ Adrian Hughes was there to start the party, he always plays a great set!

We performed to an energetic crowd who were such fun and made us feel like part of their party.  So many people came up to us afterwards and said how much fun they’d had.  It was lovely to speak to so many of them and they were over the moon with our performance and want us back next year!

Helen, Matthew & Mike even got dragged onto the dance floor after the gig and were last seen jumping up and down to Kate Perry’s ‘Firework’…they don’t get out much!!!

Happy New Year from all at MADHEN

We celebrated the New Year performing at Wicksteed Park – Northamptonshire

We had an amazing 2010 and met and worked with some brilliant people.  Over the last year we played to thousands of people from marquees and clubs, to beaches and arenas! We helped people to celebrate birthdays, weddings, anniversarys, launches and we got to travel the world too!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the success of MADHEN over the last 10 years, we couldn’t have done it with out you all

2011 is already looking great with gigs all over the UK and abroad in our diary

Here’s to more celebrations as MADHEN enters it’s 10th Anniversary year!

Lets party!

Electrik Circus

December 14, 2010

We’re 10 dates this Christmas in our 3rd year at Old Billingsgate in the City of London

This years theme is ‘Electrik Circus’ and we’re in quirky circus attire and performing a new bespoke set for the 1 hour show

Here’s a few pics from various nights

Rocky Horror at Goodwood

October 5, 2010

We had a fantastic night performing for Lord March and 1500 guests at the Goodwood Revival Halloween Party on the 18th September 2010

The nominated charity at this years Revival is a beautiful and historic church, Boxgrove Priory.  On the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, the 12th century priory is a particularly poignant choice, as it is the last resting place of Pilot Officer Billy Fiske, who flew from RAF Tangmere, and was the first American serviceman killed during World War II.  All funds raised will be used to improve accessibility to Boxgrove Priory for those with limited mobility.

Design excelled themselves again with decking out the huge marquee in full Halloween spectacle.  The three brides of Frankenstein took to the skies as they became aerialists performing over the crowds.  There were indoor fireworks and an amazing troupe of dancers performing Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ on the huge chequered dancefloor.

We opened our ‘MADHEN’ set with Matthew appearing from a coffin as The Rocky Horror Show’s Dr. Frank N. Furter singing ‘Sweet Transvestite’ and ‘Time Warp’

Below is some rough footage taken from the side of the stage. We’re hoping to get a proper version taken from the front very soon!

The audience were amazing in their fancy dress and flocked to the dancefloor in seconds.

The evening continued after our performance with our good friend the gorgeous DJ Lora who kept them on their feet till the wee small hours.

We had such a great night and were thanked by so many wonderful people that evening including Lord March himself who came and thanked us personally.

It’s amazing what you find when trawling through the wonderful world wide web!

We used to play theatre shows with the tribute bands that we perform across the UK

Here’s a review from 2008 by Daniel Mole from a ‘Call Me Blondie’ show:

‘Call Me Blondie’
Saturday, 28th February 2008
Review by Daniel Mole

‘Call Me Blondie’ wowed the Banks’s Stadium crowd on Saturday with a stunning duel performance.

This brilliant live concert show kicked off, as you would imagine, with a stunning tribute to Blondie and their greatest hits.

From ‘Call Me’ to ‘Atomic’, ‘Heart Of Glass’ to ‘Rapture’; all the classics were covered in what was a high-intesity performance.

After the break, the group showed their diversity with a string of classics from the 1980’s, taking the audience on a whirlwind tour of this decade of decadence. Highlights of the second half of the show included Soft Cell’s ‘Tainted Love’, Kim Wilde’s ‘Kids In America’ and The Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’.

All in all, it was a night to remember thanks to the high-octane performance of ‘Call Me Blondie’

The best party band…
