Joseph Foote Fundraiser

March 10, 2011

It was an absolute honour to be asked back for the 2nd time to perform at the Joseph Foote Fundraising Ball in Birmingham on Saturday 5th March

The event, which raises money for research into brain tumours, was held at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole Hotel and attracted more than 800 guests.

Evening highlights included performances by Britain’s Got Talent star Connie Talbot

Take That Tribute Band ‘The Greatest’

X-Factor songstress Treyc Cohen

Plus of course MADHEN!

The charity was founded in 2001 by local entrepreneur Andy Foote whose son, Joseph, was diagnosed with a rare ependymoma malignant brain tumour, aged just 2. Despite multiple surgeries & treatments the cancer claimed Joseph’s life in 2007, following an inspirational seven year battle.

The memory of Joseph continues to be the driving force behind the Charity Ball, which helps to fund potentially life-changing research. This year’s event alone managed to raise over £150,000.

Andy Foote said:

” I am always so amazed and inspired by the level of support we receive year on year and it gives me great comfort to know that Joseph is still in everyone’s hearts and minds.”

It was a long day but for a great cause.

Luckily we had the pleasure of Bella’s personalised MADHEN cupcakes to keep us going after an early afternoon sound check as we didn’t get onstage till 11:30pm!

Let them eat cake!

Travelling around the world as a band is thirsty work…

But MADHEN also get very hungry!

Luckily we have friends who give us cake LOL

Here’s some more we got this month from Auntie’s Cupcakes

Yum!

First wedding of the year!

February 28, 2011

26th February and it was off to Cripps Barn near Bibury in Gloucestershire for our first wedding of the year!

We performed as SO 80′S for an 80′s themed evening of entertainment with the guests

We were treated to a lovely meal and fine wine by the gorgeous couple. They couldn’t have done more for us

Such a beautiful setting and wedding

Mmmm Danone

February 11, 2011

We play in some amazing places around the world and it was the beautiful Cornish Eden Project that was our venue on 10th February 2011

We’d been invited by the lovely people at Danone to perform at their party

We last played for them at Madame Tussauds in London and they were brilliant!

If you haven’t been to the Eden Project we highly recommend a visit as it’s like turning up to something out of this world!

On arrival we were even treated to Cornish Pasties, which didn’t last long with MADHEN in the building!

After much food and drinks we took to the stage for a brilliant night. Definitely the best crowd this year

We love you Danone! x

Y Viva Espana

February 9, 2011

It was off to Spain again this week with Vision Express

A very early start after the gig the night before in London.  We managed 2 hours sleep before driving to Luton to fly to Alicante

Vision Express hold an exhibition and awards ceremony every year and we were invited along to perform for their party

The venue was the beautiful Barcelo Asia Gardens Hotel & Spa with amazing views across the skyline of Benidorm

We flew out the day before and were invited that evening to join the guests at the world famous Benidorm Palace  for a night of entertainment!

It was such a great night.  We had a 6 course meal and 2 hours of entertainment including dancers, singers, acrobats, trampolinists and balancing acts!  Much better than we had anticipated.

The next day we managed a few hours lazing by the pool before soundcheck and a cheeky orange juice in the sun!

It was a long afternoon sound checking back at the conference room at the hotel before getting ourselves ready for the show.

We had actually been booked to perform our 80′s tribute show SO 80′S, but managed to convince the organiser to allow us to perform as MADHEN as he’d never seen us do this set!

We had kindly been given a table in the venue and another huge meal before we sloped off to get changed before our performance.

The crowd by this point were raring to get going on the dance floor.  DJ Adrian Hughes was there to start the party, he always plays a great set!

We performed to an energetic crowd who were such fun and made us feel like part of their party.  So many people came up to us afterwards and said how much fun they’d had.  It was lovely to speak to so many of them and they were over the moon with our performance and want us back next year!

Helen, Matthew & Mike even got dragged onto the dance floor after the gig and were last seen jumping up and down to Kate Perry’s ‘Firework’…they don’t get out much!!!

Moët

February 5, 2011

We performed at the beautifully refurbished Langham Hotel in london on the 4th February for Moët Hennessy

It was a beautiful setting for a great crowd.

They were straight on the dance floor  to party with MADHEN after their meal and speeches.

Such a great crowd to perform too.

We had a fun night!

Don’t worry this large Jeroboam was not consumed by the band! Just wishful thinking on our part!

We had a lovely email after the event from Kate Vinent at Moët Hennessy

First of all apologies for being so late in writing to you.

We had the most fabulous time!!!  Madhen were totally brilliant and were perfect for our event, we could not have had a better band.  The music choice was spot on and the dance floor was always full.

Quite apart from the actual playing, the band set up at the hotel, and the event organisation with you, was professional and easy. It was a pleasure to do business with you.

Many thanks for everything.

With best regards

Kate

Oh this year I’m off to sunny Spain…

January 26, 2011

Well maybe not so sunny, but we flew out to Malaga from Stansted this week for a party for Best Western

The event was at the Hotel Don Carlos in Marbella

After soundcheck we had a quick drink in the hotels piano bar before getting ready for that evenings performance

This was the last night for the hoteliers and their suppliers to really let their hair down, and that they did!

We performed three sets from the 70′s to today and donned our 70′s flairs for the first set too! It was disco stomping from the word go and the crowd were such fun and very complimentary.

Thanks so much to all the people involved in the event and those who took the time to come and say thanks after the event.

We hope to see some of you again soon

It was such a shame the weather hadn’t been better, but a great time was had by all nonetheless.

We’re back to Spain next week too…

Liver Birds!

January 22, 2011

The incredible St. George’s Hall in Liverpool was the venue of choice for an awards party.

Built in 1854, the very ornate and grand concert hall was decked out beautifully.  And all the team involved created an unforgettable evening for the highly enthusiastic crowd.

We even got to sample the Bread & Butter pudding before we took to the stage.  Thanks to the amazing caterers ‘Heathcotes’ for that!

The audience couldn’t have been better and we had an absolutely great night.

We’d like to thank all the those involved, especially Sally-Ann Edmonds and the team from Production Bureau for looking after us

Sally-Ann dropped us an email the next day:

Just wanted to say again thank you so much to you and all the guys for a fantastic night!
You were fabulous – what a great show you put on!
I haven’t seen many people yet this morning but those that I have are saying how fabulous you were so thank you for making the night so great.
Also you’ve been a real pleasure to deal with in the lead up to the event so thank you for that as well.
Hope to see you soon – travel safely today
Kindest regards
Sal x

The 16th Annual IFR Awards Dinner took place on Wednesday evening at The Grosvenor House in London and saw more than 1,000 of the world’s most senior investment bankers gather to celebrate the successes of 2010.

And, thanks to the generosity of those who attended, more than £1.4m was raised for Save the Children through the traditional tombstone auction.

The occasion showed once again why the IFR Awards Dinner is considered to be the premier social event in the industry calendar.

Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, President of Save The Children was in attendance at the event and addressed the audience before a video appeal was made.

Comedian Jason Manford then took to the stage before Johnny Vaughan and Melanie Sykes took over to host the tombstone auction.

We were lucky enough to follow Bananarama on stage for the after award party.

A huge mirrored dance floor transformed the Ballroom for the guests to dance the night away till 2am

Below is a piece from the Save the children website by Mark Sowersby

Many thanks…

We had a lovely email from Neil Fry at Sounds Commercial after our gig for Affinion at the beautiful Portsmouth Guildhall last week.

This was the third year we’d been asked back for this awards event.

The event was extremely well organised by all involved and we’d also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made it a very successful evening.

We were delighted to book Madhen again for our clients annual awards.  From enquiry through to the show they provided a first class service and responded quickly to all communications regarding the technical planning of the event.  We have seldom worked with a more professional outfit and the crowd filled the dance floor on both sets!  We look forward to working with Madhen again and the satisfaction guarantee that comes with them!
